The Steeples at Churchill Downs......and the Most famous Race Horse event...the Kentucky Derby. It is on my bucket list to attend the Kentucky Derby and I have a neighbor friend or two that just might make that happen!!!Hopefully next year!!! This year's race, a horse by the name of I'll Have Another won....is it possible that over 30 years have passed since a triple crown winner has occurred....can it happen in 2012.....
The second race of the triple crown is the Preakness held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. And guess what happened...I'll Have Another Won that race also....so that brings us to the final race Saturday at ...
The Belmont Stakes the third race of the triple crown is held at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. I will be glued to my tv watching this event. I have had an interest in horses and horse racing for several years....my younger sister always loved going and betting at the race track we have here in our State.At that time I was a busy Mother and had no interest. A few years ago we visited some relatives in Kentucky and we went and saw several Large Horse farms in the Lexington, Kentucky area, I was smitten and madly in love with all those adorable horses and young foul's....a horse under the age of one. A young Boy horse is a colt and a young girl is called a filly.

Oh my goodness ... have you heard they just scratched "I'll Have Another" from the Belmont?
My first thought was "Thank God" (for humane trainers); not wanting to take a chance.
I used to love watching the thoroughbreds run, but can't watch it live anymore after Barbaro's accident a few years ago. :(((
DH makes fun of me, on account I'll go in another room before the start, then wait to learn if all the ponies stayed safe to watch the replay.
Funny, for a "conservative" gal, I'm a total liberal when it comes to animals. (NOT a PETA-type liberal, but a softie all the same.)
