Happy Birthday George Washington!!!!

Jamie and C.J. outside of George Washington's Home Mount Vernon in May 2000.
We love American History and love to visit Presidential Homes and museums. It was amazing how much Mount Vernon and the White House have in common. As far as the floor plan layout!!!
George must have designed the White House floor plan after his beloved home.
Chuck and C.J. touring one of the many gardens at Mount Vernon. The home sits on the banks of the Potomac River. It is a large home that sits on a large plot of land. Visiting the slaves quarters was a sad experience.
A few interesting facts about President Washington:
He was our first President in 1789. Served 2 terms.
He grew up with 9 brothers and sisters.
Joined the Navy at the age of 14
Married Martha Custis, a wealthy widower with 2 children. Never had any children of his own.
Led the Continental Army to victory over the Kingdom of Great Britain
Only President who did not live in Washington D.C.
The first Mason to become President
