The real reason for the Holiday is to remember those who have made the Ultimate sacrifice for all of us. I have many family members who have served or are currently serving and for that I say a big THANK-YOU!!!!!If not for their selflessness we would NOT have the freedoms we so love and enjoy everyday. God Bless our Men and Women who serve their Country willingly.
If you have never experienced going to Arlington National Cemetery, I think every American should go. It is a chance to walk among headstones that chronicle American history, it also is a chance to pay tribute to war heros from wars dating date as far back as the Revolutionary War to the fallen from Operation Iraqi freedom.
To witness the Changing of the guards at the Tombs of the Unknown is Unbelievable to say the least.The ritual these Sentinels as they are known undertake for this honor is amazing. They march 365 days a year 24 hours a day, no matter what the weather. They march for 1 hour in the winter and 30 minutes in the summer. They march in precise steps. 21 steps, turn, pause, march 21 steps and so on.
