Home of the free because of the brave!!!!

I went downtown to watch the Veterans Day Parade, what an Honor to witness so many Brave Men and Women who have given so much for this Great country!!!!!
Thank you to all the Veterans who I know who have served. My Dad, Father-in-law, Uncles, Brother-in-laws, Cousins, nephew and lots of friends and for that I am Proud of YOU!!!!!
This float also had a few parents on board who have lost their son/daughter, see the lady in the red sweater holding that folded flag, when she went past, I whispered to her God BLess you and then I cried, her son's photo was attached to the side of the trailer. War is never easy and I cannot even understand their pain, as I have not walked in their shoes, but I do know I don't think I could recover ever if I lost one of my children. As we all know Freedom is NOT free it comes at a HIGH Cost, but I think all of our Vets would say it is worth the cost, so the enemy doesn't come here and kill us all.
Pearl Harbor survivors, I saw on Fox News, New York Cities Veterans day parade had 13 Pearl harbor survivors and they estimate their are about 125 still alive.

What's a parade without a band!!!!
My son goes to Law school and Law school does not get Veterans day off I guess!!!!So since I was near his school I decided to take him out for lunch, to Macayo's!!!!!

Jamie, I enjoyed your post and the parade. I teared up just reading this. We have been so blessed to live in this great country. The older I get the more I realize this and recognize my childish ways when I was much younger and ignorant.

Your children are all good looking! Runs in your family!!!!
You must be very proud of them.

We enjoyed St. Louis, especially because of our children. But then they took us to St. Charles and I think I'm ready to move there. Loved it. Will be posting pics soon. Have so many to download...hahahaha.

God bless you my blogging buddy,
d

Take care and talk to you soon.

What an amazing post! Those are wonderful photos too - our veteran's day parade isn't quite that large, even though I live 20 minutes from a military base.
God bless those that are serving and the families of the servants!

Thanks for sharing. My heart breaks especially for those who have lost loved ones in these wars. Had the opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor when I was Hawaii six years ago and was so moved.
Definitely will let you know if I get to Las Vegas again. Know we would have a great time!

A very sweet post. I also wanted to thank our Veterans on that special day but ended up in the ER instead and I couldn't blog from there. :) Thank you for appreciating our Veterans! Kathy

Hi Jamie,
What a sweet post. Thank you for sharing the pics and for the message.
About your question...for some reason, when it comes to special-occassion dinners, I always have to have a tablecloth. And I always choose "damask" because my mom always did. : ) So I have gold for Th. Day, cranberry colored or red for Christmas and white or cream for all other occassions. You might have noticed the gold "chargers" under my Thanksgiving Day plates. In my mind, they're kind of in place of a placemat. I got those at Bed, bath and beyond. Also, Target has carried them in the past.
But for the little kiddos, I buy holiday themed placemats for either their table or up at the bar-counter.
No matter what you end up going with, I KNOW it will be wonderful. I've seen your table settings in the past. : )

My husband is a veteran. He did 22 years in the A.F. He now works for Lockheed Martin and does not automatically get the day off but he takes it off and then either goes to the parade with out cub scout den or goes to visit soldiers at the veterans home.
Thank you for remembering.

On another note. You sure know how to make a girl cry.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to comment on my daughters blog. She will also be commenting back to you as well.

Your words of encouragement made her day.

Jamie, I'm fine! I put a link in my blog to my daughter's blog about my hospital stay on the word life http://babybranson.blogspot.com/ but it was no big deal just my appendix. It just threw a wrench in our lives. We also had a week end get away with the whole family planned. Hope you are all doing well. Kathy

Thanks for the lovely post and wonderful reminder of our brave men and women who have given so much for our country.

My father-in-law was in the Navy and was stationed on Pearl Harbor when it was bombed. My MIL and FIL were young newlyweds at the time. They are no longer with us, but when they were they had some stories to tell of that time...
