Friends are the Best Collectibles!!!!

Saturday night I was invited over to Laura's house(Decor to Adore) for her daughter's 21st birthday party!!!It was a 70's theme party!!!So right off the bat, her and I have many thngs in common, and theme parties is one of those!!!!I met Laura about 6-9 months ago at one of the AZ blogger luncheons and we hit it off right from the start!!! I think friends should be like a collection, make a few new ones as often as you can!!!Laura and her beautiful "fashionista" daughter came to my birthday luncheon and it has been so much fun getting to know them both better!!!!Here is Laura with her Mr. Decor to Adore!!!!Don't they both look like they belonged in the 70's!!!To young for that, well they would have been quite young anyway!!!!
Her lovely daughter informed me she has "Birth year displacement disorder", she said she wished she could have been born in the early 50's so she could have enjoyed the real 70's!!!!She made that disorder up!!!!!Isn't she so cute in her darling dress and her daisy headpiece!!!Reminded me of Jenny from Forest Gump!!!!!
I wore what I thought was something that looked 70-ish!!!!!Laura did an amazing job on the food, Watergate salad, cheese fondue and chocolate fondue, when my hubby and I married in 1976, we had some friends who would invite us over and we would eat on the floor and it was always fondue!!!!!Such fun memories!!!!
Playing 70's trivia!!!!
Singing Karaoke and of course old 70's tunes!!!!
Then on Sunday, my neighbor and great friend Jeannine invited us over to swim in their heated pool and for dinner!!!!She is an amazing cook!!!!She has been my friend for 2 years now and I treasure her friendship, she does so much for us and she is just so sweet!!!!
The babies playing!!!This is Jeannine's little Princess on the right and those are Michelle's two!!!
My friend and neighbor Michelle and her son and Jeannine's son!!!These are my little Grand daughters little friends!!!!The friendship collection just keeps growing!!!
My hubby out back visiting with Jeannine's Mom, her Aunt and her cousin!!!Such a fun day making new friends!!
Then on Monday, I headed over to the west side of town for a Dr. visit, we have lived on the east side of town for 6 years now, but I kept all my Dr.'s on the west side of town, so I could make a few trips over each year to have breakfast and lunch with some old friends!!!!This is Eddie, he and his wife Irene were some of my customers at the bank I worked at over there, Irene is not doing so well, so she cannot get out as much, so Eddie and I met for breakfast!!!!He will be 80 next St. Patricks day!!!!I so treasure friends of all ages, it makes you appreciate getting older so much more. They have taught me so many things and I cherish our talks, he reminds me of my Grandfather back when he was this age and alive.
Then I met us with these 2 girls, they are sisters and I have been friends with them since we were teenagers and attended the same church!!!!!I have countless fun memories with these 2!!!!
SO much history between us!!!!Now we have kids and grandkids together!!!Always so fun to hang out with them!!!And both of their daughters joined us and Grandkids!!!!
Thanks everyone for 3 wonderful days of new and old friendships!!!!
From there I headed downtown, I had some things I wanted to pass out to homeless people, but when I called my hubby, he suggested this place!!!!
Teen Challenge is not just for teens, when I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed lots of men and young men playing basketball, it is a place for recovering drug addicts to go and commit to 1 year of getting sober and ministering to others. This place has a very successful treatment program, because it offers them a relationship with the lord and a place to live while getting their lives back to normal.
Because I thought I was going to give them to Homeless people I had printed up these Bible scriptures and tucked them into each bag.

I made up about 20 of these little bags. About 2 weeks ago, I went in to clean my bathroom, I turned the water on and pulled the drain up, and I WALKED OUT OF THE ROOM!!!!When I returned a few minutes later, the bathroom floor was Flooded!!!!!!Luckily I walked in when I did, I had to dry up the floor and clean out all underneath my sink area, because I have had the great fortune of traveling so much I have/ HAD a huge collection of Hotel size samples of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower gel, so I felt in my heart that day that God was speaking to me to give these little treasures to the homeless. I went out and bought deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, chapstick, and gum. I think I delivered them to a great place and these Men will feel Blessed hopefully to have gotten them!!!
I called it MY Make a difference Monday Project!!!!

I love your giving spirit for Teen Challenge. Mr. Decor travels quite a bit for his work and we take his hotel stash to our local domestic violence shelter. So blessed we are indeed.

Bad news. Sweet Boy has a horrible case of Strep Throat. You have passed the quarrentine (SP?) time frame so I am praying that you are well.

Thank you SO much for coming. It was the icing on the birthday cake. :)

Aren't friends the best gift of all? What a fun weekend! I got to spend time last weekend with my college roommate for some "girl time" and my friend Mary, who I met almost 30 years ago. The 70s party looks like so much fun.
What a great idea for the little soaps etc. Our synagogue and one of the churches sponsor a shelter and our always collecting soaps etc. I like the idea of adding scripture.

Thanks, my blog friend, for your sweet gift of friendship.

Dear Jamie, This is such a sweet post. Enjoyed reading it and seeing the pics.

You are a blessed Lady to have long time friends as well as to make new ones.

The 70s theme was great. I graduated from High School in 73, met my hubby at a Community College and married in Aug. '74. The 70s mean a great deal to me!
Had 2 of my babies in the 70s and
1 in 1980. Bought our first house in 78.

Remember these days really well.

Wished I weighed what I did then...hahaha...I keep hoping.

What you did with the supplies and scripture in the bags is wonderful. A wonderful ministry.

Jamie, you're a dear Lady.
God bless,
d

You have been one busy lady catching up with old and new friends! I truly think that friends are just as important as family and that we should work to nurture these important relationships. It sounds like you feel the same!

I love what you did with all of your soaps, conditioners, etc. I too have more than I will ever be able to use. My friend goes to the Phillipines yearly so I plan on sending them over with her on her next trip. We are so fortunate yet so many lack even the most essential items. I'm sure they appreciated the bags more than you'll ever know.

Hi Jamie,
Oh what fun! I loved seeing Laura's party. I met her when I met you and I think it's so neat to have a connection. Neat idea for a party too! I should have saved more of my 70's disco clothes. hehe. And aren't you the sweetest, with your little gift bags! You have such a giving heart dear. Hey Jamie, the only time Dan and I were in DT Phoenix was during rush hour and they had a bunch of construction going on. We sat there for over an hour. Needless to say, we got to know the dt pretty well. hehe.
Hey girl, you have a great day too.
Hugs,
Cindy

Good Morning Jamie Sweetie...
Looks like you and Laura had a wonderful time. She looks so beautiful, she fit right into the 70's. You had a busy week it appears. Doesn't surprise me, you are on the go all the time.

Thank you sweetie for the beautiful birthday card. So sweet of you to remember me. We so need to do a girls day soon. Would love to get with Char too.

Ms "C" is growing so fast, and look at all the beautiful hair. I told you those that come in the slowest, have the most beautiful. She has a smile that just lights up a room.

I am going to have to go to the Dr. on Friday. I am afraid that this cold has gotten a little more serious. Anitbiotic time. It is playing havoc with my blood sugars.

Did you get a role in the movie? I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I will miss your fame game. I have so enjoyed meeting all the people you have met. What a wonderful way to go out. President Bush.

Have a gorgeous week sweetie. Much, much love, Sherry

This is the first time I read your blog :) You're such a cheerful and optimistic person! :D
And I couldn't agree with you more, friends are the best collectibles! :) I haven't seen mine in a while because they've been busy but we're going out this weekend :)
And what a lovely party! It reminded me of a sitcom I like, "That 70's show" :D

Oh Jamie... you have such a giving heart. And that is so evident in all of your posts!

What a fun idea to have a 70's party. I think I even might have some clothes still in my closet from then! Although... they might be a bit tight.
