Day 4 on Disney's Fantasy.....St. Maarten

Chuck and I love getting up early and watching the Sunrise when we are on vacation at the Beach. So we woke up at 5:50 to see the sunrise at 6:05!!!There was maybe 20 other people out and about at this early hour. And of those 20, half were Up to smoke.
We waited and waited......however, it was just to cloudy.
It finally made it up over the clouds, but I was really sad. Oh well a morning walk/jog with my sweetie Made up for the not so  magnificent Sunrise!! We then went for breakfast in the very quiet Cabanas!!
I went back and got ready as Stacie and I were going on a tour of the island. The rest of the family were going to do the water taxi over to a nice restaurant that our server suggested.

A statue in Phillipsburg near the University. What is so unique about St. Maarten is that it is peaceably shared between two nations. France and the Netherlands share this land and have since 1648. Once the site of numerous sugar canes plantations and Military strongholds. Today it survives from Tourism.
In the popular tourism season, this marina they say is filled with Luxury yachts. On the day we were there, only about a handful.
From what we saw on the boat tour and island bus tour, it is indeed a beautiful island.

The waterfront homes were lovely and I thought the bright colors were awesome!!
Some people live in their boats, intersting .
The famous airport on St. Maarten, famous as it is in the top 5 most dangerous, because of it's short runway....
Here is the Bay end of the run way.....
                                                   And the Beach end......
 The water is stunning!!

We are now on the French side.
This  building is near the dock on the French side, this dock became famous as it was used in the movie Speed 2.
One of the French side's historic Catholic Churches.

Crossing the border back into the Netherlands!!

Back to our Home away from Home!!
