I'm going to Vancouver to the 2010 Winter Olympics!!!!!!

I have wanted to attend an Olympics since......well since it was in Los Angeles in 1984!!!!!!!
When Chuck and I were dating in 1976, the Winter Olympics were on and being that he loved watching sports, I soon fell in love with Sports!!!!!I was so taken with the Olympic then and Now it is even More of an Obsession!!!!!!I have watched every Olympic since and it is a Family Tradition to watch it together!!!! I have taught Miss C to respect the flag, since she was born, to this day if we pass a flag she gets all excited, one road we drive on has 3 in a mile and a half span, so she places her little hand on her heart and we shout out, well I shout, she mumbles something "GOD BLESS AMERICA"!!!!!So to say I am excited is a HUGE Understatement!!!!!I will be flying into the Emerald City and spend a few days with my sister and her family, and then we are off for 3 days in Vancouver!!!!!!! So far we have tickets to a Bobsled event and a Hockey game!!!! We are going to try and get tickets to a practice Ice skating session, sorry ladies, the tickets to the scoring ice skating events are VERY Expensive!!!!!!I'm so excited!!!!!We will be going by Bus up to Whistler, to the outside events and I have heard Whistler is amazing!!! I also plan on doing the gondola to the top of the mountain and/or the suspension bridge!!!!!!
I also got a brown down jacket to match my boots!!!!! And a limited edition charm for my bracelet!!!! The trip was part Christmas and part Birthday gift!!!!! I wouldn't care if it were my gifts for the rest of my life!!!!!I can now scratch going to the Olympics off my Bucket List, yes, I have one made!!!!!
The first set of Olympic pins I bought were in 1988 for the Calgary Winter games and summer in Seoul, South Korea, back then both winter and summer games were in the same year!!!!Then came 1992 Albertville,France winter games, then they changed the rules and Olympics are held every 2 years for winter and then summer, so 1994 was a winter olympics again held in Lillehammer, Norway.
1996 summer Olympics were held in Atlanta, Ga, and we all remember what happened there. Sad thing to happen here in the good ole USA. 1998 Winter Olympics were in Nagano, Japan. 2000 summer games were in Sydney, Australia.
2002, can you believe they were again only 8 hours away from me in Salt Lake City, Utah, and we still did not go!!!!!
2004 summer games in Athens, Greece and 2006 winter Olympics were in Turin, Italy. Oh how I wanted to go to Turin and see the shroud of Turin, well maybe....... another secret!!!!!
Summer Olympics in 2008 were in Beijing, China, and I think they did a spectacular job and who could forget that Birdcage stadium?????
So there is my big secret, I just couldn't keep it a secret for 2 more weeks!!!!!
If you ever get a chance to watch two great movies about history, watch Miracle on Ice and Munich. Very good!!!!

YAH JAMIE!!
I am so excited for you and a bit jealous, well a whole lot jealous!!! That is on my bucket list too! I started looking last summer at the price for the ladies figure skating and oh my, so expensive!! Even when Katie and I just went to US Figure Skating finals that was very expensive. Since we are only 2 hours from the twin cities we didn't have to get a room or anything. I am so loving your new down jacket and all those olympic pins too! LUCKY GAL!!! YAH AGAIN!! Cindy

I love the Olympics too! I have had friends who were in the Summer Olympics in Swimming. One of my highschool friends (who even dated Adam)was in the Athens Olympics and won silver in a relay. I used to swim against Misty Hyman and she won gold in Sydney. My swim coach, Chrissy Alman Leighton won like 8 gold medals in Atlanta. You are so lucky to see all this soon-to-be history!! I LOVE Vancouver too, I have been there twice and wish I could go more often! Make sure you see Stanley Park and get up that Gondola...there is a very nice surprise waiting for you at the top!!! I know you like surprises:)

Oh My Gosh,
Miss Jamie I am so thrilled for you. How exciting is this? When do you leave? I will be waiting for my postcard in the mail. Don't forget me. We will expect lots of pics to view on your blog. You will be the most popular gal in blogland.

I asked Charlotte today about hosting the next AZ Get Together. She doesn't want to host it, she just wants to come. I am thinking about sending out a message to see if anyone wants to get together in Feb. What do you think? You had some ideas for other places to gather, so please let me know.

Congratulations again sweetie. I am so thrilled for you.

Many hugs and much love...Sherry

Well, I just think this trip to the Olympics is a wonderful gift, Jamie!! You'll have a blast & I know we'll get to see lots of pictures. :D You're so good about documenting everything beautifully.

I enjoyed seeing your trip to the science museum with Camdyn. She is such a doll & so are Mimi & Mommie, too!

DH had a stent put into his left main ♥ artery on Mon. so we've not gone & done anything this week, other than church. *sigh* I sure hope he gets to feeling better soon.
Thanks for your sweet words of encouragement.

Wow that is such a special gift! Not very many people can do that. You are truly lucky. Have so much fun. I think it is so fitting for you. I can't wait to see/hear about all the fun you have. It is a special thing to be apart of. I remember when it came to Utah and I didn't have enough money to go to the events but we went to a concert down town, and it was so fun to be apart of. We also got up at 1am in the cold winter, snow and all to see them running with the torch. I will have to find those pictures. You just feel so proud and excited. So enjoy of minute of it. Take lots of money, I don't know what it is but you just want to buy everything in sight. Kind of like Disneyland(It doesn't matter that you might already have ten Minnies, you have to have one for that moment, that trip)! If that makes any sense Really though it is such a fun time and I am so happy for you!

You, a type A personality? I never would have guessed it. hehehe :) Honestly, your use of exclamation points make me wonder about ADHD. :)

I don't think there is anyone in blog world that gets around like you do, my dear! And now the Olympics! I have a good friend out that way, and for a brief moment years ago we thought that we'd get together to go, too. But it was not in the budget for either of us. I'm glad you are at least getting to go. Have some fun for us.
