Laura Bush book tour comes to my local Costco!!!

Wednesday May 12, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. Laura Bush is signing her book "Spoken from the heart" at my local Costco!!!!My friend Judy and I arrived at Costco at around 1 p.m. When we arrived there was only about 25 people in line, OH YEAH!!!!!!But soon that 84 degrees starting getting really hot, they made you line up outside, so I had to go inside and purchase a large patio umbrella to make it for 4 hours!!!!It was a fun afternoon talking with everyone around us. My Grand daughter showed up at 3 as I had to babysit her so she was cheap free entertainment!!!
Per secret service rules, NO PURSES, NO CAMERAS, nothing was allowed in the store with you.
You were not even allowed to reach in or take anything out of your pocket!!!Secret Service people were everywhere, in fact I am sure most of the Costco employees that day were secretly secret service!!!I asked 2 or 3 of them where camping chairs were and I was sent on a wild goose chase all over that store!!!!I totally understand the entire secret service deal after going to the Inauguration and the Ball. After going through a medal detector and some were body searched, she arrived early!!!!Yeah for that!!!!She was EVERYTHING and MORE!!!!

SO POLITE and Kind and Gracious!!!!She thanked us for coming!!!!Can you believe that!!!!
She asked Miss Camdyn her name and she asked me "is this your granddaughter" and I said Yes!!!SO very sweet, what a GREAT DAY It was!!!!
My friend Judy with her autographed book!!!!
Of course lots of tv news stations were there, I decided since I was just on the news not to long ago with my Olympics story, I would lay low and not be interviewed today!!!!But as we entered the room and I was telling Miss Camdyn "look we are going to meet the nice lady", I guess the news was filming us while we waited our turn!!! SO since this is the only pic of me at the event, they DID NOT have a Professional Photographer there( OH BUMMER) I am happy to get this!!!From what I found out though Costco had a store employee from the Costco photo dept. taking pics that maybe mine quite possible was taken and will be available today!!!!

Hi Jaime,

Wow, how exciting! What a great event to explain to Camdyn when she's older. I haven't forgotten about making a layout of Princess Camdyn, it's just getting put aside until there's the proper time to do it. Besides you keep offering such lovely images for me to choose from, so who know's....maybe it'll be a book instead ;o)

Hugs,
Meri

When I saw that Mrs. Bush was in Tempe I KNEW you'd go. I thought there would be a big crowd. I should have gone, but it would entail driving through Phoenix traffic which I'm not good at. Glad you had fun.

Hi Jamie, I think you are in the spotlight because of your magnetic personality!!!

Last night I saw Mrs. Bush's book at the store. I'm not sure she'll be anywhere near my hometown so I can see her...will have to check this out. What a delight to be able to see her and talk to her. She's very classy!

Gotta run! Grand and I are going shoppin' and out to lunch with hubby and daughter. Think it'll be chinese food...General Chicken! I have to leave in 10 minutes and I'm not even dressed yet...haha...mercy mercy.

Have a great day,
d

How funny that the news got you on camera! I tell you how wouldn't want to show off that cute little Miss C! Sorry it was hot. I know it was worth the wait. I really can't believe they wouldn't let you take pictures. Hope Costco got you in one of their photos. Let me know if they got my mom. I would say your days of fame are never over!

How exciting! I have not gotten her book yet but I certainly plan to! So far the only President I've seen in person was Richard Nixon when he came to Gulfport MS after hurricane Camille in 1969. Quite a long time ago for sure!

Have a great week end Jamie. I'll be at work this week end...boo hoo LOL!

Lucky Laura Bush, she had the privilege to see Princess Camdyn in person. Hello darling I have missed you so so so much. I initially wanted to take a week to travel, relax, and just forget problems for a short time. However, the problems traveled with me. You see while away, I learned that my best friend, my childhood friend has cancer. Therefore, I rushed back and ever since, I have spent everyday and moment with her. She is so young, only 44. Her life is just starting and now she has this horrible disease. She had surgery last week and is now home resting. Her treatments will start in the next 10 days and that is when we will learn of her chances of survival. Life is so unpredictable and so precious isn’t it darling? One minute a person is fine and happy the next at death’s door. Therefore, my friend enjoy your life.. every moment of it.

Thank you for being so kind to me my luv, I truly appreciate it. You are always quick to pop in and to leave a sweet comment for me; it means the world to me. Wishing you a lovely, sunny and blessed weekend.

Love & Hugs

I just love Laura Bush. Saw her on Larry King the other night. I think she is probably one of the most truthful celebrities there is. I am sure I will read the book.

You just keep bumping in to those celebrities! I hope she comes to our COSTCO. Although, unfortunately I don't think I have the patience to stand in line for four hours!

The one & only TRUE FIRST LADY of this nation! WOW-ZA! The only one I met personally, thus far, is Mrs. Nixon ...

Jamie, Sherry has never gone home from the hospital ... she's been in 8 days now ... prob. another 2 or 3 they told her yesterday. She truly is having a terrible time with the breathing & is still on oxygen & they moved up her breathing therapy to every 4 hours. Won't know the outcome of the x-rays until today ... stay in touch with my writes for updates.

Have a fabulous week.
